Good luck!
by jimmyhoops October 2, 2007 3:12 PM PDT
When I was growing up, life lessons about not stealing came from
my parents. It's a sad state of the times that such key character
building lessons need to be programmed within the school system.

Sounds like the recording industry needs to build a better mouse
trap as oppsed to relying on the failed public schooling system to
teach the essentails in life. About all the public school system is
good for these days is pumping out consumers and not much else.

What retarded morons the entertainment industry employs
by bobby_brady October 2, 2007 3:47 PM PDT
I bet these guys that are employed at entertainment industry barely passed elementry school themselves.

Anyways, for a sector that goes around and sues their customers, installs rootkits on their machines, employs deceitful tactics there will always be a large percentage that are pro-"piracy".

Suing customers is false
by SJ2571 October 3, 2007 1:20 AM PDT
They don't sue their customers, they sue thieves. Get it right, please. And even if the customer has bought their stuff in the past, doesn't mean they're not a thief when they download illegal tracks later.
OK...

I think that this is crazy. You would be luck if you even got the little monsters to pay attention none the less actualy be able to understand it. I am 15 and I don't even get it as far as I know lime wire is legal because a magazine had a typo that said so. And maby if the legal music downloading services actualy worked then I would gladly pay for my music infact I do I think that I have been cheated out of at least $200 from apple iTunes and I do feel stupid and cheated if I want to use that music for a diferent mp3 player that isn't disposible or freakishly overpriced. I also think that if teachers let corporations in to class rooms to teach instead of the teachers then who knows maby in the future charter schools with be add suported.

Indonctrination doesn't need to make sense.
by QMT October 2, 2007 4:45 PM PDT
We didn't know any of the details and underlying facts we were told about toothbrushing in kindergarten, nor seat belts, nor handwashing.

Introduce the concept when they're young, have them sing along in a "i don't download mp3s, la la la la lee" song, whatever. Once they get to highschool or college, it'll stick about as well as the DARE program.

Downloading photoshop is bad, m'kay. You shouldn't download photoshop.
That's disgusting

How about we keep the lobbyists out of our classrooms, shall we?

When your business model fails...
by DoughboyNJ October 2, 2007 5:43 PM PDT
...just brainwash children to prop it up.

Sickening.

When the horse and buggy petered out, did they resort to this?

Can't wait to hear my daughter come home and tell me how important it is to save the newspaper industry and local travel agency.

Then I will give her my "anti-encumbent business model" ed.

INDOCTRINATION!!!
by mattumanu October 2, 2007 11:30 PM PDT
I wont have these people indoctrinating my kids on this "do not steal" agenda. I mean really, I was born with a gene that makes me a thief, it wasn't a choice. I didn't choose to be a thief anymore than any of you chose to be a non-thief.

I think it's disgusting, preaching against my thieving lifestyle. It's hate speech! You have no right to force your morality on me!

Msg to RIAA keep your hands off my kids
by xenophod October 3, 2007 12:57 AM PDT
Its groups like the RIAA and others that seem to want this time in my kids class room. I'd much rather the schools tell them to take their curriculum and shove it where the sun don't shine and focus on teaching what they are paid to teach. Stop using the classroom for your personal social agenda.

The reality is by the time today's kindergarten glass reaches 18 the RIAA and the music industry will probably be belly up anyway.

Counter-programming
by JadedGamer October 3, 2007 6:29 AM PDT
I propose we make a anti-industry-ed program:

* Buying music fuels the artists' drug habits!
* Music videos are just soft-core porn!
* Movies come in pairs because the makers copy each other!
* Special effects do not compensate for plot and characters - but noone told Hollywood!
* Passive entertainment is bad for you - go play a videogame instead!
* Wait for bargains or buy second-hand instead of falling for the industry's over-priced initial offerings!
* Support small music labels and independent artists, not the cartels!

oming soon to kindergarten class: antipiracy ed
by Victorkbchan October 4, 2007 5:51 AM PDT
I persoanlly agreed the education should be conducted at age 4 and up. I had initiated and officially launched similar "Scout Respect IPR program" in Hong Kong SAR since 30 April 2004 because boy scout activity is of the age group five and up and also they are internationally linked with both boys and girls participated. this was with the Scout Associaiton of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department as well as Intellectual Property Department of the HKSAR Government. I was the former deputy genersl manger of MPA Greater China Program and former Regional Licensing Manager of the IFPI Asian Regional Office. This program also launched by Mr Dan Gliman ; the CEO of MPAA in September 2006 in the States. I had visited RIAA office in Washington in mid 2007
