OK, so you don't believe there's a link between global warming and the uptick in heat waves? Now there's new evidence you can ignore at your own risk.

I don't think so.

Doesn't look like Coop's gonna tell you a thing. And even if he does, you aint gonna listen.

Hey, you didn't need to read any further than the first line of the article, "If you believe global warming is a great left-wing conspiracy, don't read any further."

He told you not to read it, but you couldn't resist, could you. He even told you that this was someone else's report. But that didn't stop you from making your trite observations, did it.

Hey, maybe we can program a bot for you that will find all articles remotely related to global warming drop comments like these for you automatically. You can do it without thinking, why not use a computer to do it for you?

Global Warming is bad?

I'm really into global warming. I enjoy longer summers and shorter winters. So far I've seen no adverse effects caused by global warming - only benefits...

I feel sorry for people in the future when the temperature will most likely start cooling - yuk !!

>I'm really into global warming. I enjoy longer summers and shorter winters.

This really goes to show that you're not thinking straight -- spoiled by the obvious luxuries of the Western lifestyle.

First of all, longer summers and shorter winters are worse than longer winters and shorter summers. (I am speaking from experience -- although I dont' know if any formal study on this issue has ever been made. okay it's not SCIENTIFIC -- but I know this just doesn't apply to me.)

My energy costs in the summer skyrocket versus those in the winter. It's cheaper for me to keep my house warm, than to keep it cool throughout the summer.

In addition, (and this point I don't have to prove), gasoline prices spike during the summer months. Longer and longer summers will prolong this economic effect. Gasoline prices are already going up, let's not help them any more.

This of course is the human aspect of global warming -- I haven't even mentioned the incredible ecological damage that longer summers will do. You like cranberries in your muffins? I hope you like 5 dollar cranberry muffings because at the rate we're going, the areas where such produce can grow will be in Canada. Previously one of the primary cranberry producers in the United States was Massachussetts -- not anymore. That's just one example that I can give off the top of my head.

So think about it. Your appreciation of longer warm summer days cannot go without its dire consequences.
Global warming is real

Core samples from 2 kilometers deep show that Greenland used
to have lush forests. The planet cooled down in the middle ages
creating the little ice age then wamed up again. Heck, even
Mars is warming up right now.

Of course global warming is real. The planet has been warming
up and cooling down since day one. But is it due to humans
adding to carbon dioxide that comprises only 3% of all
greenhouse gases?

If that was true then why was the high temperature records for
almost every state in the US set decades ago?

Not the big picture
by Mac User Too August 4, 2007 11:16 AM PDT
Global warming is not a left-wing conspiracy. There is evidence
that the earth is in a warming trend. Where are all the glaciers
that used to cover most of Canada? The problem for the liberals
is this starting happening long before humans could have any
impact on the CO2 levels. There have been warming trends and
cooling trends throughout earth's history. The problem from a
human understanding point of view, is that these trends take
place over many time that is the equivalent of many, many
human life sans. Most humans have can't decide what to order
when their turn arrives in the line at McDonald's let alone think
about a process that encompasses 10,000 years. Reporting that
Europe has been having hotter temperatures lately and blaming
that on human action is about as naive as thinking you can make
it rain with a special dance, just because it did rain once after
the dance. Humans are egocentric. We love to think we are the
center of the universe. This whole global warming plays right
into the liberal mind-set, e.g. there hase to be somebody to
blame.

And the "solution" is invariably greater government and NGO
control of economies and less freedom for individuals.
Forget Global Warming -- let's Talk Utter Hypocrisy
by mikepalomino August 5, 2007 7:04 AM PDT
I absolutely LOVE how Right-Wingers love to talk about the Liberal "mind-set" like parents discussing their child's misgivings, as if their endless wisdom gave them a leg-up any everyone else. You love to talk about Liberal "elitism" and *yet* you talk down and marginalize anyone who doesn't see your way.

Paul Bischof, you - in particular - are a hyporcrite. Lambasting one commenter for "ad hominem" attacks (for basically speaking the truth about the original commenter's complaint, when he should have known what to expect), but take no issue when another commenter makes a broad sweeping comment about liberals and their supposed "mindset" -- whatever the heck *that* means.

The truth is, the historical warming and cooling trends that you and others are referring to are much different that what we've been seeing over the last 60 years. Those trends last decades, yes, but they are LOCALIZED to their particular geographic area. The little ice-age hit Europe the most but left most other parts of the world untouched. On the contrary, a global ice-age would affect are large portion of the earth's surface.

What we have been seeing over the last 60 years with the increased use of petroleum-fueled vehicles, as well as the wide-spread pervasion of polluting industries, we are seeing more than just a "trend" that fluctuates -- it is a steady increase in GLOBAL temperatures. And that increase in temperature runs parralel with the increase of CO2 in the atmosphere, as well as massive deforestation throughtout the developing world.

Also, Bischof, the idea of a loss of "personal freedom" as a result of regulating industry is beyond absurd and typical paranoid right-wing/Libertarian thinking. Any legislation aimed at curtailing global warming is ultimately intended for the benefit of not only the environment itself, but also, to protect the interests of the individual, because it is average individual who will suffer should global warming continue unabated. You need only look at the consequences of New Orleans to see what the future of the Eastern sea board of the United States is.

Gentleman, you need to do more research instead of accepting whatever it is that Fox News and its corporate ****** tell you.

You talk about facts, but all you do is take ONE study, out of hundreds (if not thousands), an abberation, and use it to discredit all others. That is neither honest nor rational (or scientific).

What are you worries? Think about whose interests you are protecting? Certainly not mine, an average joe. Sounds to me like you're more worries about Bobby BigOil than Joe Sixpack.

I'll stick with Joe Sixpack -- at least I know whose got my back.

i saw Al Gore's movie yesterday and was stunned by the magnitude of the problem. i realise that there could be a major issue in the years to come if nobody contributes towards spreading awareness about the disappearance of the ice brackets and i condemn any fool who is not willing to open his eyes to see the truth dance naked in front of him

i vow to contribute in whatever ways i can towards lowering the rate of global warming

Pay attention to the science, not the spin. Policy either choose to heed or ignore the science, but the science remains.
