no way am I ever going to return this baby. It is by far the best
smart phone I have ever owned its the only one that gets the
real Internet that actualy works not to mention the way it handels
email (spectacularly) and the keyboard that cnet was so worried
about works great infact I can type faster on this keyboard than
on any other phone keyboard I have ever used.

I love my iPhone. It does everything I expected well and more. I did not buy the first iPod. But I did get Video iPod eventually. The call quality is good for me. The browser did not crash on me at all. All the functions worked well for me and it worked better than my Palm Treo. Maybe the call quality and data speed depends on where you are at.

Going back tomorrow because of AT&T
by mspartacus July 11, 2007 5:15 PM PDT
Unfortunately, I'm taking back my iPhone tomorrow. It has nothing to do the iPhone itself, but rather with AT&T. Even though it has been widely advertised that if you are an existing AT&T customer all you have to do is add a data plan, it turns out that is not necessarily true. If you are a long time customer with a favorable voice plan they will make you "upgrade" to one of their current plans. I currently get 1000 minutes a month for $39.99 and I don't want that to change. AT&T has since changed their website to mention that some plans aren't compatible with the iPhone, but Apple's website makes no mention of this. My plan is a GSM plan so I'm not sure why AT&T doesn't want to take an additional $20 from me for a data plan, but I'm not willing to change plans. In fact know I'm looking at switching to T-Mobile. Their new voice over wifi plan is intriguing.

u r 2 evil not 2 return your iphone
by ur2evil July 11, 2007 6:23 PM PDT
I don't have one yet, but I'll get one if at least 50% of users return theirs by Friday. More returns Apple has, the better chance I have of getting one for less than the market value. My suggestion to iphone users, take them back. I don't want to spend no more than $200.00 for mine.

Most people buy BMWs and MBs not just because their status, but for their technology and experience. It's sad that some people have to worry about putting food on their table every day; but it's a different story. Sure, some people are just throwing money away like there's no tomorrow, but most people actaully appreciate and are willing to pay for the "experience".

what a loser for returning an iphone
by Anthony Frausto-Robledo July 11, 2007 7:33 PM PDT
seriously, only a loser would return an iphone. There were plenty
of opportunities to pre gauge you use and needs. If you return it
over att and edge than shame on you because the speed is
known.

I am so happy to know that someone out there has become the official gauge on the "loser" status.
Didnt WOW me or match the hype - RETURNED!
by greatScottie July 11, 2007 10:11 PM PDT
It is attractive and cool. Nice user interface and has a few things
it can claim as firsts.
But, it does NOT change the landscape in the cell phone space.
It does not have features that most people would assume are
present in the cheapest of cheap phones.
I had no ATT data access for half the time I owned it, and the
EDGE performance was dismall (O.C. CA).
I hadnt used an ipod before so to me that wasnt a factor in my
evaluation.
In the end I had to give it a failing grade, return it and picked up
a pay-as-you-go tracfone that does include basic phone
functions missing on the iphone.
Can't fool everyone - they need to make a lot of improvements.

Anybody returning Iphone ... needs a head check
by Jarmo Pohjaniemi July 11, 2007 10:20 PM PDT
Now why would anybody return their Iphone which does
everything 10 times better than any phone. The ones who will
must have bought too many of them or does not understand
technology in first place. This phone does what my laptop does
... now try the same with any other phone and you see what I
mean. then in the end ... there are many old-school folks out
there who does not understand even that bagel is round.

Better?
by herby67 July 12, 2007 12:04 AM PDT
Does it have better audio than all other phones? Not even average.
Does it have better reception than all other phones? Not even close.
Does it have a better email client than all other phones? Way below blackberry and WM based phones.
Does it have a good, fast keyboard? The soft keyboard, while good, does not even come close to a full querty keyboard (like the ones on the HTC Universal or the Cingular 8525).
So it is a good phone, but it is not even close to being the best on all counts. I'd dare to say that, as a phone, it is just average.
BTW, I own an HTC Universal (JasJar) device, and it is a perfect desktop replacement. I can easily edit native word documents, view PPTs, browse, do full email (with attachments and with a full querty keyboard) and can leave my laptop at home most of the time. An iPhone would not even come half way to that. So take out your blindfold, there ARE some great phones out there, functionally very superior to the iPhone. They are not as sleek, as elegant or as well integrated, but they might be a better solution for many.

you are right it is a great phone, but the service that it will only work on leave a lot to be desireable.

REFUND: $627.22 + $31.36
by hawaiiinsomniac July 11, 2007 10:44 PM PDT
Well, I returned my iPhone today, and I didn't know this but in Hawaii there is no 10% restocking fee, and if you don't have a receipt they can pull it up by your credit card. They also accepted my case for the iPhone. Back to my Nokia 6230. Now, to get a Nokia 5700? Too many better phones overseas. Mahalo exoticphones.com

CNET fishing for an anti-Apple story

Do you think they'll ever do a "Will you return your Vista" article? Or "will you return your brown Zune?" Or will you return your PC?

Food for thought.

No they wouldn't because
by tyks July 12, 2007 3:47 AM PDT
Someone would actually have to buy a Zune to ask if someone
wants to return it.

As for Vista, if it didn't come preinstalled on their lovely, shiny new
PCs, nobody would being buying that either.

Done Deal
by wolf1420 July 12, 2007 12:43 AM PDT
Returned it after 24 hours. Didn't work in the dorm (AT&T) and
iphone lacked enterprise WAP so couldn't connect to university
network. Total waste. No cut and paste! When I returned it to the
AT&T store, salesman put down "buyers remorse" but that ain't
ture. It was pretty much a pos. NEVER GET AT&T!

Never Got One
by Robert337 July 12, 2007 7:04 AM PDT
I went to the Apple store and played around with a 4Gb model - and was very impressed, but why would anyone get the 1st model of any device??? I'll wait for the second or even third model before I pluck down my hard earned cash. By then all the bugs and shortcomings will have been fixed and I'll only be out the $600 + service instead of $1200 / $1800 / $2400 ....

I Just Returned My iPhone
by Vablkmn July 12, 2007 11:20 AM PDT
I must confess that I got caught up in all the hype. I do love the iPhone. I only returned my phone because I want to wait for the next generation. I think they will make improvements to this already great device. Every Apple product seems to get better and better. I don't think this will be any different, especially since this is the very first phone they have ever produced. So, while I was sad to see it go, I know I will see it again one day soon.

Apple iPhone referbs for sale?
by Elroy Jr July 12, 2007 11:55 AM PDT
With all of the returns Apple is getting and expecting, do you think that they will (or some other on-line company) offer a referb iPhone at a discount? If that was the case, I will purchase one in a second.

Yes, I did return the Iphone. I didn't want to, the phone is the best that I have seen. But the service from At&t is way below par. I compared it with Verizon and there were too many areas that I didn't have a signal when I did with Verizon. I hope that Verizon picks up the phone in the future.

I hope in the next version, the iphone will be able to view pdfs, word and excel and be able to sync up with outlook.

ITunes and 64Bit Vista
by kjdinoc July 13, 2007 7:31 AM PDT
I've always disliked ITunes but I finally decided to take the plunge into Apple because I HAD to have an IPhone. Well needless to say it will not run properly on Vista 64Bit making it impossible to activate and sync the phone. So the phone went back the same day. ITunes is the ONLY piece of software I've encountered that will not run on my O/S which I've had for 5 months now. No one at Apple seems to know if our when they will ever support the platform.

Arrogance and Technology
by Fil0403 July 15, 2007 10:14 AM PDT
iTunes today runs great on 32 bit Vista, but even here Apple tried to make it incompatible in the beginning (Microsoft even had to be the one releasing patches fixing some of the iTunes problems, imagine). You see, they thought (and from your comment it looks like they still think) when people would see iTunes doesn't work well in Vista they would forget Vista just to be able to use iTunes, LOL! Funny people, those Apple dudes.

I really wish that the iPhone was a good phone, but I realized that I
was spending more time trying to make it work than actually being
able to communicate properly with other people.
