If, as you say Linux and specifically Ubuntu desktops are so rare, why have a publicity stunt?
Hard to say they are using publicity stunts to drum up sales of free software!
Matter of fact, I can't think of what being single has to do with it, but I can tell you I run a Linux desktop and I am happily married. I also can count 12 others off the top that I know run Ubuntu or other Linux flavored desktops. Not for "fun" for business.
OH but I forgot I am probably talking to a Microsoft-ite that loves paying and paying and paying for the spoon-fed software experience.

planet Earth majority of web servers use linux for stability and
speed, high end 3d workstations use linux for the same reason too.
In Earth even Microsoft used linux for its gaming consoles. All the
Macs are linux in their core too. They are just Unix with a fancy
graphical user interface. etc...
Hmm, now I belive I counted more than "4 single guys"
Oh one more thing, Dell doesn't sell only in USA, its worldwide.

think pad loads any linux fine and everything works perfect. IBM
laptops are the best option for linux. Linux users don't need a
company to install an OS for us. We are smart enough to do it all
our selfs. And yes I have a girl friend and I porked her last night.
