Business, money... imagine how much a user would spend with AT&T with all that video downloading (slowly). Once used to doing it at home over WiFi... it's easier to start doing it on the road...

Yes it may be slow but you are not going to pay any more money. I'd assume anyone who would be getting the iPhone would also have an unlimited data plan for email, etc.

With all the open Wi-Fi spots everywhere, EDGE is a non-issue.

WiFi is faster than Edge, true.

But any public WiFi spot is not necessarily a place that you'd want to be downloading content or trusting your personal information to.

Please use a numbering scheme for your Iphone articles. Something likes the date - plus an incremental number for that day. Start the incremental number over again each day.

It would be help when referring back to one of the many...daily articles. Thanks for your unrelenting Iphone support. Us Apple fanatics know it will be an uphill battle and your daily support has been a great help.

The connection speed thing (Edge) won't be forever...

Apple doesn't settle for second best.
I predict AT&T has plans up it's sleeve, and/or that Apple may have other options.

Why would Apple base a product as important as the iPhone on a mediocre network??
IT WON'T. At worst, the slowness will be temporary. That could kill iPhones acceptance. It's too important for the iPhone's services to be slow for any prolonged period. Something's up or on the way...

"next" Friday = "this" Friday, dammit!

Clearly the writer is from an old generation which used "next" to
mean the date second after the actual next one.

Anyone growing up in the computer age should know that the
"next" of something is the one next to appear.

(There was even a Seinfeld episode talking about the confusion
that "next" and "this" cause.)

Ah geez, just give the date: Friday the 29th, a week from now.
