There's already 3D Printers out there.

There are plenty more service bureaus. And the prices for some machines are dropping quickly so people will increasingly be buying their own.

As it turns out, I cover the intersection of virtual worlds and rapid manufacturing, so it's nice to see Kapor link the two.

Some of these people need to get a first life!
Having said that I can see virtual worlds being an aid to people with mobility problems.

commercial venue or social venue?

Does anyone really think Second life is a venue for more than socialization? IBM is the first to admit the purpose behind their false start in SL. Others will come along in time. More thoughts at www.3dubiquity.com
