Web sites launch all the time, but they also shut their doors. We highlight 15 that bit the dust this year.
Let the debate begin: Was the iPhone more important than iTunes? Was anything bigger than Google finding a great business model? CNET offers its list of the 10 most important stories of the '00s.

You've got to be kidding, right? How would it help if the IP address of a home Mac is transferred to the one on the road? The contents of the damn file is what you really need.
I definitely will not buy something from apple again that has just been released. Always wait for the first major hardware change will is now my mantra.
I love my macbook, but I might be running Ubuntu as my main os now. I've been using it at work for about a year, and I'm content.
The only thing I might miss is iPhoto. I think I should be able to find a good replacement though.
Well.. thats enough venting. sorry, but, bye bye osx, it was fun while it lasted.
And, by the way, Microsoft doesn't make any hardware, nor do they support it. The hardware vendors support Microsoft, not the other way around.
Apple has a stellar reputation for supporting their hardware longer than ANYONE in the industry. Leopard will work on machines 8 years back into the past.
LEARN about Macs, before you post again.
Vista or 64bit (buy 2 keep MS happy). The same Mac OS can deal
with eiher h/w environment (unlike Vista) so you do not have to
panic.
leopard to the next level of reliability over "outdated" hfs+ and
shame Vista's filesystem capabilities, but nada.
Finder improvements are nice.
I think I'll hold off my hardware upgrade (still on my 6yr old G4
system) a bit longer (post leopard), sort of like the XP folks waiting
for Vista SP2.
Oh boy now THAT's innovation... NOT !
The **truly** innovative companies are leveraging the possibilities the Web 2.0 make possible, and this is a prime example.
Just as MS belatedly woke up to the internet in the first place, you are woefully behind the leading edge if you don't get this.
If the iPhone only runs web-apps (something I am not so sure of), then I can make apps for the iPhone. Seems to me that opens the door for a whole bunch of developers.
What drives a "computerized" product like a smartphone? My guess is the useful programs for the device.
A highly-technical smartphone that has not apps is an expensive paper-weight.
It may not be "innovative" as in "new technology," but it is "innovative" in how a company opens up development of a product to more people.
To me, that is a good thing.

If Google wants to show they don't just pick on the big mean Microsoft they need to sue Apple too.

- I wonder what else is Apple going to come up with now that Windows is on par with Macs both in terms of looks and security. Perhaps new Windows-ripped-off features to succeed TimeMachine and FrontRow? At least we got (another) confirmation that Apple's success depends on Microsoft: Windows-compatible iPod, Windows bootable Macs and now Windows-compatible Safari.

- So was that a serious comment or do you work for Microsoft?

(26 Comments)On par visually - are you serious?? Go to the Mac Leopard page
and look at the bootcamp thing showing Windows next to 10.5.
hahaha - it's laughable. Security, really? Are you actually being
honest with yourself. I'm guessing you just work for Microsoft
because that's just funny. Apple has a balance of new ideas and
making old ideas feasible and easy to use (Time Machine and
Front Row). The iPod wasn't the first mp3 player but they were
the first to make it useful and easy to use and they are doing it
again with backing up your computer and interacting with your
media. Also, I wouldn't hedge my bets on Apple being that
dependent on MS anymore. With a market share above 8% and
growing at 5 times industry rate combined with the iPhone and
the fact that Macs have been the major contributor to their
financial success even with the advent of the iPod they are using
Windows to convert people over to Mac (hint - it's working ;) )
So really, move along and enjoy all your fun crashes on your POS
Vista Box (yes, I've tried it, I've bought it, put it on a brand new
computer. Uninstalled and put XP on it in within 24 hours
because I had 6 hard system crashes when running standard
Excel VBA code...) The real question you should be asking
yourself is if Apple is going to downgrade the stability and
useability of their OS just to make things look prettier (Vista). If
you ask the developers I think you'll get a resounding "NO" on
that one...
