Microsoft added better video support, but it's still lacking the most important ones, Xvid and Divx. This update only supports the MPEG4 simple profile and not the advanced profile needed for the above mentioned video types. MS just wants to stay on par with AppleTV. While I'm glad they're at least doing that, it'd be nice if they'd step up and offer what consumers really want.

Sure, you and I see the usefulness of DivX and XviD, but is that "what consumers really want", as you suggest? I've yet to come across your average Xbox360 owner who laments the console's lack of support for DivX.
