"award-winning service for which Apple is known around the world" ?!?!?!
What kind of awards are we talking about here? My latest experience of dealing with European Apple call centres is still ongoing and has involved a distinct lack of attention to customer satisfaction, although I may now be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. See www.missingipod.co.uk for more details. Will this kind of problem be reduced if the call centre moves to Bangalore? I worry that it is unlikely and that the potential for communication breakdown will be increased further.
It is very easy to say why Apple and other American companies should start call centre in India when they can work in 90% less price and speak better and proper English then Americans. Why we should transfer our jobs in India in the new world of Globalisation which was started by First word country. As an Americans we should start giant companies in India and other Asian country and force small companies to close down and take their jobs, but if they start supporting American companies and when as an American we lost the job we understand how its feel but not when some one else loose their job.
Every coin has two sides. You can not say we will start Globalisation and we don?t want other counties to do the same then it will be call hypocrisy. I have worked in one of the UK company in London and we used to call Dell support for our fault and all the time we was getting accurate and clear support from Indian call centre.
We must need to admit that there are many countries where people can speak better English and have good knowledge in IT and Electronics field.
Apple opened two call centers in the Philippines years ago, and has been continuously opening centers in the USA in Europe and all over the world. They are also now allowing some American agents to work from their homes. The business is booming all over the world. You can't expect every support center to be in the USA.
