TabletKiosk hoped to beat Samsung out of the gate, but had to halt most shipments because of a glitch. Still, its frankness has won it fans.

Fan?

I thought these used the Ultra Low Voltage processors that didn't need "active" cooling. I hate the fans in the notebooks I've owned. When you first buy the unit they are not too noisy but after a few months they make a terrible racket whenever they kick in. (Notebook manufacturers in general seem to have mastered the art of making sure the fan somehow works great for at least long enough to make sure you won't return the notebook, then it starts to get loud.)

I hope the Samsung is better designed and doesn't need a fan.

I would rather have the fan

I am tired of seeing companies putting out products which require fans to bend those requirements to please some unrealistic idea of what the sound level should be.

One of the reasons I build my own PC's is so that I can put in as many fans as I can. My units are much better for it.

I wish those who advicate for lower sound would research the impact of removing fans before voicing in on this issue.

It's kind of like the people wanting thin lightweight laptops. You know the ones I mean because they are so weak the keys fall off (this means you Sony).

You don't have to go with a Panosonic Toughbook but don't go with the lightweight crap either.

I say the above comments based on being the admin for multiple companies involving hundreds of laptops and PC's.
