heh, I am looking forward to the day when the dreams come true and I will be hurrying home with a new CPU packed with 512 MB cache :)

But this won't happen so soon :)

Riding the 64 number

I just built a desktop system with
AMD 64 +3400 ( actual Hz = 2.1 GHz )
Gigabit NForce 4 dual sli
1 Gig of DDR3500 and ATI X800
but the real fun began when i overclock the sweete.
now it pushes
from 200 FSB to 234 FSB i think that equiv. to 600Fsb as it's called.
hence AMD ( actual Hz = 2.58 ) yeah baby !! i had to get a strunger power supply for it to happen
The DDR now is on par with DDR2 if not better for its small latency. My point is that AMD for Desktop is all you can wish for price / performace and having the choise of the most bleeding edge of technologies combined. But Loptops market does not belong to AMD. Intel will eat them alive with their exelent marketing ex. Centrino, i got that one

Pricing

So.. now, when Pentium M has a real opponent (Via or Transmeta chips are not and won't be widespread), I hope the prices will lower. Although Centrino-based notebooks are cheap, they should be more affordable.. And the same I would say for upcoming Turion-based notebooks.

Turion64 and windows 64

Very nice timing for AMD just when Microsoft is going to release its 64bit operating system. This is going to give a selling point advantage to AMD. I dont beleive centrinos are 64 bit yet. I know they have the Pentiums that have 64 bit instructions finaly.

But the real test is going to be Turion vs Centrino when it comes to battery life. I want to see which one wins out.. I would love to see a laptop run for 4-8 hours straight without recharging based on turion64.
