This man sounds like he is using historical fact as a backdrop for the game and treating it realistically and with the proper gravity.
The game is being distributed by a small game company under license. I'm certain that if he was making something gruesome the company would put the breaks on it. As it is he stated that there is no in game violence and it is a way to depict the historical happenings in WWII as related to the Holocaust.
Personally I hope he does it right so that another generation learns more about this in a way that sticks. Traditional schools gloss over this sad point in history way to much. The recognition of evil, as the Nazis were, should be reinforced in all ways possible.
I recommend you watch Pam's Labyrinth or Life is Beautiful (La Vita è bella). I am certain you will change your opinion.
Pan's Labyrinth, a little girl escapes into a fantasy world to avoid the horrors of mom's failing health and nazi occupation.
By the description of the game, I don't see it being much different than what this movie went towards.
I have not see Life is Beautiful, but I will look for it on netflix.
Release the game here already! I loved Pan's Labyrinth, and this sounds very similar.
