Not as dumb as I first thought
by johnmadden78 June 13, 2007 7:57 AM PDT
I was about to say something really, really disparaging about this,
until I realised that it's probably going to be at least as watchable
as poker. Plus BSkyB (among others) have already broadcast some
quite successful programs featuring competitive (i.e. for prizes)
video gaming.

Next great "sports" property?
by GraysonBuzz June 13, 2007 4:13 PM PDT
First problem is that it has to be a sport first! I like to play video games so this is not about a distaste of that hobby. But professional gamers? I just cannot take this stuff seriously. You might could make a parallel argument between this and pro athletics but it just does not feel the same. Regardless, the activity may take off, but it is not a sport. And I think I would still rather watch poker!

a great to a structure for the future of Gaming

this is great. The biggest block that was in front of video games, for players to become professionals, was the fact that there is so many video games out there. Its like all other sports put into one: EA sports games, fps games, rpg... you get the picture? its hard someone to be top in all those, you can be good and even great, but never at the top of all of them, not enough time.

My gaming days are over, but I will definitely be watching these shows, for entertainment and support.
