Comments on: Are virtual assets taxable?

The weapons, armor and gold pieces from online games are worth millions in real dollars. How much of a share will the IRS want?

Funny... tax who?
by songching January 21, 2006 9:32 AM PST
Law makers can make any laws they wayt. The problem is, in WOW EULA, it said that all the virtual properties (eg. the gold, wands, swords, etc.) are belong to Blizzard. So, if they want to tax, should they tax Blizzard since it is owned by Blizzard, and not us. Very debative question. Can anyone answer it?

The govt is waiting until the max # of people get computers and get online before everything gets taxed which is when Uncle Sam will unleash his hell on all us all so possessed. Taxation of emails, websites, time spent online,etc.,etc.

Virtual IRS Payments...

Project Entropia already allows a "tax" on items of value generated in an area "owned" by another player. They would just need to set up another tax for the federal government the same as the player that holds the deed and give them some virtual coins.

Bored Morons

Only bored morons with time on their hands would think up such tripe. It is every American's duty to properly report their income, however you get it. But unless the government wants to get into the business of predicting the future, no one is going to tell me that a character in a game is worth money that I haven't seen or collected, and probably never will.

Anyone else see the irony?

So I kill Ogre_001 and he drops this really nice sword. I then sell that sword to Internet_Item_buyer005. He pays me a nice chunk of cash, which I then report on my 1040A as income. IRS takes the money where in it gets dumped into the US Treasury to be used to pay the men and women of our armed forces who are out there fighting the Terrorist_Ogre009 in order to keep looting the UberOil.

Life insurance
by Kairon156 September 15, 2007 9:14 PM PDT
so. if I bought life insurance for my wow charters... I would get money back "each" time they die??

I make 9$ an hour and I have to pay tax for it. when I'm at home I make 0$ an hour, Should I have to pay tax just because I'm playing World of Warcraft?

Just assume we have to pay tax for our MMORPG accounts and that potion of giant growth I sold for 2.5G (wow) would I pay my taxes in CND (canadian dollar) USD (us Dollar) or WWG(world of warcraft gold)...
my point is that if the us start taxing world of warcraft and I live in canada who is going to be taxing me?

(I have more but that should be enough to make you think)
