There could pay C|Net to run articles. That's certainly possible and there is hardly anything wrong with it. C|Net may also be an investor in There, but usualy if they have a stake in the success they state so in the article.

It's also possible that they are sending their news releases to C|Net and getting them to cover the stories by providing good access to the information. Another possibility is that one or more of those who work on these articles plays There and is an active member of that community writing about something they do in their free time.

Who cares, just so long as you read the articles...
