Selling the xBox 360 for this Christmas and it's ability to interact with Windows PC's is an advantage but it will come down to which games are the most popular. If Halo 3 rocks then the xBox will sell well. I don't think Microsoft will over take Sony this go round but they will do well. If the PS3 is over $500 and the xBox 360 is under $350 then that is another advantage.
My question for both Sony and Microsoft is which of you will help the smaller game development shops the most. $15-$20 million to develop one game is allot of cash. We are not all EA but most of the best talent is in the smaller shops and that is where the more interesting games will be created and that will help drive sales of your new consoles.

The next round for wars again went to the PSX. This time around there did happen to be a newcomer to the stage: Microsoft's Xbox. However, was Microsoft really a newcomer to the field? Most likely technology came into play again. Sony had a Ace up its sleeve which was planned from the get go: backwards compatability. I mean honestly, who could pass up trading your old system in for a new one and at the same time being able to keep those classic thumb-blistering games that you didn't want to give up? This time around? Well we could say that PS3 will edge out the competition in technology. We could say that Xbox's launch plan would edge out the PS3. The Revolution? - How many of you still associate Nintendo with Mario?
Games. Yes I know I have not mentioned anything about games. Consider the points I have mentioned above and then picture walking into a video game store. Which system consistently has the largest selection of game titles? - Twice?
We don't know which factors will come into play at which time. There are no newcomers. Technology will favor the PS3. If they play their cards right lauch specifics will help boost the 360's chances. I give the edge to the PS3, but honestly, I would not be suprised to see any of the contenders pull ahead.
First, I have to say, all this debate over the top next gen console is extremely interesting.
Nintendo Revolution, even though it looks neat--downloadable games from any prior Nintendo system!!--will not be in the 1 or 2 spot, it just doesn't have the fanbase. Sadly, they are considered a kids' platform.
Xbox 360-despite all the accessories, hype, MTV shows, LIVE updates--the only thing that will make this console sell well is Halo 3 and don't deny that Xbox fanboys.
PS3--Sony has established their Playstation as the market leader. People who don't understand anything about video gaming refer to most consoles as a "playstation". With its track record of great games, the only market Sony has really got to work on is the Online Gaming. The Final Fantasy XI with the HDD just didn't work for me. Plus FFXI is coming to Xbox 360 so Sony better watch out. However, life is still in the current generation.
Going out with a bang: All three consoles-Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube are ending with a bang. For the Xbox there is Battlefield 2: Modern Combat plus the newly release GTA San Andreas. For the PS2, the ICO spinoff Shadow of the Colossus, which looks super. Finally for the Gamecube, obviously TWILIGHT PRINCESS!!!
However, I think props ought to be given to M$ anyways. Consider how long they have been in the gaming market--4 YEARS. Sony has been in it for 10 YEARS. To think that they can even stand a chance at beating a company who has been in the market over twice as long as they have is INCREDIBLE. Props to M$.
Only time can tell the winner but I predict that if more information on Halo 3 is given out, the 360 will rise up with the HYPE and only the diehard will stay with the PS3, especially because of the launch dates. If Halo 3 releases near the PS3, that could mean big trouble for Sony.
