- At the time I wrote "the essay," backwards compatibility was still an unconfirmed rumor. I feel much more comfortable commenting on facts and what I know rather than what is speculated. It wasn't until Saturday that Bill let the cat out of the bag, so to speak, and confirmed it out right.
