appearance. That said, I like the idea that the box can be
customized.
curves, I love it, anyone who thinks this is ugly I hate to see what
their house looks like.
long live playstation
But, you have to keep in mind that they didn't design it to appease the hardcore gamer. They have joe-consumer in mind. This design reflects the appeal of today's most popular gadgets. So, they're trying to appeal to the broadest audience they can. Trying to appeal to demographics that haven't been into gaming as much as say males between the ages of 10-32.
By the way, that MTV special... Lame. The marketing department had a field day. It was all glitz, celebrities, and flashing colors. Did it educate the viewer about the console and Microsoft's vision for it? Not really. In fact, it barely brushed the surface. I think you got to see the console itself 2 seperate times for about 5 seconds each.
(admittedly a high tech version).
And obviously most companies who wants a good design on their console or product pays some outside design specialist to help them since a designer working for them 24/7 would cost more.

across the head. Be a little more original in the future, OK, John?
You are so "3l33t".
early stages....i wish they would make it smaller instead of bigger.
like the ps2 now is sold in a slimmed down box. that is how they
should do it from the beginning. i dunno...have they released a
price yet?
In fact it was rumored that Microsoft was supplying dual processing Macintoshes as there development system. I see Microsoft dropping Windows development, and supporting MacOS X soon. Hopefully, all games written to the XBOX 360 can be ported over to the Mac platform.
PC platform is dead. Long live the Mac!!!!
Sure it would be nice, but it won't happen. Serious games don't buy Macs, so even though ther IS possability for ports, do you really think microsoft will license a game from any vendor to it's systems without making a port to the mac a deal breaker. It'll happen with large franchise titles that are big enough on their own to cut a deal (EA's Maxis has done this well). But don't expect much else.
white color!
Or maybe trying to be diffrent from Sony, PS2because of it being
identified by it's black case design.
Maybe next Microsoft will be doing blue see-through versions!
And of course the XXXBox will be flesh colored and play the newest games by the newest XXXBox developer Vivid Studios.
Well at least they are consistent in some way JEJEJE ;) ..
I'll like to see how Linux can be installed on this one.
If it's Power Pc Based then maybe.. yellow dog Linux JEJEJE
And a little known fact - the reason Apple changed the Apple logo from a pseudo rainbow to all white? Reverend Hutch. He thought the old logo was too "flamboyant" which as we know, means it is gay which in the eyes of a vengeful and angry god, is a sin and tempts the fates.
The MTV infomercial was painful to watch. Seeing J. Allard do his homie handshake with some rap gangstar and making sure the camera focused squarely on it was yet another example of corporate America putting every effort forth to appear hip. Microsoft should have hired some street thugs to front as developers of the XBox 360. "Aww yeah, yo them APIs we made for the SDK 4 this ***** are straight dope m4d l33t ****!!!"
The MTV infomercial had no content, just kids they paid to dance around and Frodo really truly trying to act like he actually cared about a gaming console. It all takes me back to the Sprite.com "release party" that Sprite paid MTV to do years ago.
I'm definately hacking this thing.
Microsoft says it's all about the software, stupid. Yet they have yet to make a useful global interface for MP3 players to challenge the iPod (though rumor has it they are working on something to challenge the iPod that should be released by November).

You Remember the first unvailing of XP when it crashed just
starting explorer. Well same thing except the Xbox 360 will
probably self destruct 1 minute after inserting the disk. Just
wait until apple releases a gaming system Thats what im waiting
on.

- Does looks matter?

- The shell really does not matter is it in how does it function and what are its limits. These are the things that really matter in gaming. Then comes the fluff. So what can it do? Everyone is talking about its looks not not what it has or can do?

- Ugly XBOX.
- by May 16, 2005 3:05 PM PDT
- Just look how ugly the xbox 1 is, and how dumb the name is. But no one cares about that after the system comes out and you're used to saying the name. People will eventually adopt a universally accepted nickname, and move on. Except with the XBOX, you couldn't really come up with any type of acronym i.e. PS2, N64, PSX (not to be confused witht he all in one DVR version of the PS2, but the originally dubbed Playstation system). So, maybe we'll call it the X360, or just 360.

- Looks Matter... a little.

- Apparently... looks do matter. If you're buying something, you'd rather buy a nice looking piece of hardware. You're going to be stuck with it for a few years. If looks really didn't matter then why did Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo make design their consoles the way they do. They could have just chosen a box with different colors if looks didn't matter. But I think the Xbox 360 defeats the purpose of its title: Xbox. Not really a box anymore is it?
