the more I look at it, the better it gets
by Below Meigh May 13, 2005 7:53 AM PDT
Prediction: PC game market will shrink as console gaming comes back. Since consoles now network, save and allow for mods, the home-pc/mac-gamer will move to console and the money will be in the console game titles. Even more money in the micro-charges for add-ons, maps, bonus items and specials.

Change is good. Just let me have a black face plate, please.

Agree, it's one of the promising formulas

This is the slow shift that MS is making to get out of the dependence of its own platform, that is slowly but steady losing ground against free-source.

Hardware + software is one of the promising revenue formulas for the next level of the software industry.

"Allows for Mods"?

Please direct me to the press-release that covers this subject.
Since Microsoft is notorious for only allowing their patches to be
applied, the game developers, and only their hardware, I am so
totally interested in finding it if this is a promise or not.

As far as the rest, the specs on this new box are subject to
change a great deal. There are no real promises. They don't
have a working prototype (no surprise there), because their
demos are running on macs. I have an xBox, and have had
almost every game console ever built. I am happy with my xBox.
I think the current focus should be on newer games.

If the actual release of the 360 is not backward compatible, it
will fail miserably. Bottom-line, what will the "actual" product
be like.
