Why MS just don't label it a Mac?
by March 1, 2005 6:26 AM PST
They're already using a processor that Apple and IBM
developed together (PowerPC 750). We all know how MS is
concernet to copy every idea successfully developed by
Apple. Why not an iPod assembly for the Xbox 2? It
wouldn't be a surprise considering MS legacy to copy
instead of developing new ideas and concepts.

Mac-heads are such *********. Their computers suck, but they still insist on being fan-boys. Look up "moron" in the dictionary and you'll see a goofy-looking Mac-head.

Because it *isn't* a Mac
by Jamie314 May 16, 2005 10:41 AM PDT
Look past the words 'Power PC'. Microsoft developed the Power PC processors in the new Xbox with IBM and are custom engineered for gaming.

Does it run OSX? No.
Does it look like a Mac? No.
Does it use anything else from the Mac domain? No.

Is it a Mac? No.
Then why should we call it a Mac, just because they both use PowerPC cores? Give me a break.

You must be a MAC Fan?
by ntrsource March 1, 2005 7:35 AM PST
Your response to this form of vision is unfortunate and faded by jealousy.
If all we should have are originals we would only have one car model, one piece of bread and we would all eat meat.

Thanks for innovation, foresight, investments and distribution.

Someone always has to start, but that does not always mean that they win any form of game.

Make it a great day.

Speaking of innovation!

theres really nothing wrong with being a mac fan is there? i enjoy being one. i'm much happier now!

that said, i do find it ironic that MS is looking into using the same platform that was co-developed by their arch rival, apple. you dont need to be a mac fan to see the humor in that :)

and what's wrong with eating meat, anyway?
Sure, look at cars...
by newrican March 6, 2005 10:34 PM PST
We showed Japan how to build them and now they're ahead. Can't have only one maker. But you've got to admit, MS did bite off Apple for the concept and did a better job of marketing. BUT, I use both MACs and PCs and the PCs crash a hell of alot more than the MAcs.

Where's the iBox?
by TV James March 1, 2005 8:25 AM PST
I recently used an OSX for the first time and was amazed at how the ALT-TAB was just like Windows. I tell you, it saved me so much time on the project I was working on.

And then I went back to my PC to finish the project after I had gotten what I needed out of Quark.

Sure, Apple's an innovator. So's Microsoft, so's Xerox. Imagine a world where cars all had their wheels in different places. (Apple would make you live with one wheel where two wheels would prove to be far more useful.)

Without Apple who would MS copy?
by RdgWlkr76 March 1, 2005 12:36 PM PST
Having a scroll wheel and an extra button or two on your mouse
must make up for all of the spyware, viruses and system
meltdowns that you have to deal with.

Oh wait, you could just get a different mouse, perhaps a
Logitech that has everything you want. Then you would have a
better computer with a better OS and the mouse you wanted.

PC manufacturers are lobbying Apple for the rights to license
OSX, if that happens, what will MS fanboys complain about then?

343 Guilty Box

That Xbox picture where it's a ball looks like 343 Guilty Spark from Halo.

I know. But don't you find it kind of ironic that if they use that design, its actually more of a XSphere...

Exciting time for gamers
by iceman2654 March 1, 2005 9:15 AM PST
I can't wait until these consoles arrive. More specifically the PS3 (although Nintendo always made good consoles). But I have to say, MS should just stop because they're always making a fool of themselves. Especially Steve Balmer.

I'm not sure of that.

I have an Xbox and just love it. I say bring on the Xbox2 or Xbox-Next. I'll be saving my pennys for it. :)
They're both equally great...
by PCCRomeo March 1, 2005 11:42 AM PST
I love my Xbox and PS2 the same. Without PS2 I couldn't play GranTurismo, and without Xbox I couldn't play Halo.

Microsoft? Fools?
by Jamie314 May 16, 2005 10:48 AM PDT
I think you'd be hard pushed to stand up to the richest man in the world and call him a fool, because he certainly isn't one.

I'd also have to disagree with your views on the consoles ? I buy whichever console has the best games and capabilities, so I bought an Xbox as I fell in love with Halo. After feeling the enormous benefits of Xbox Live (and Bill's financial muscle getting great game contracts), I wouldn't look back. If Sony had Halo, or blew me away with online services, the PS2 would be sitting next to my TV instead.

Anybody notice the logo...
by brothe May 13, 2005 12:21 PM PDT
In picture 3, the logo for the Xbox 2 is an obvious slam on the PS3 because it is a poorly hidden >3 (greater than 3)

As for Mac vs. PC, PS3 vs XBox 2, Nintendo... we all have our own preferences... Why not argue about whether blonds are prettier than brunettes.. of course you'll also have the guy who likes red heads... it doesn't matter, as long as you like what you've got. Who really cares...

Xbox 2 specs are great
by wileytuten May 15, 2005 12:18 AM PDT
As far as computers go... I'm an Apple, Microsoft, Unix, and *nix Fan. I love em all! Microsoft using G5s. Very cool. I'm excited to hear about the xbox 2 sporting G5s. 3 symetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz is exciting.
All that in a small form factor is impressive.
Some may not prefer it, but I love it.
2 thumbs up on what I've seen so far!

Hmm.. I dont think so!
by RatingxDawn December 31, 2007 8:43 PM PST
i don't think I'm the only one here who thinks that, ANY of those little drawings are the consoles of any generation. And by the way. I don't think any company will be releasing anything new for a while. And if they will, my vote always goes to Micosoft. They been bringing us entertainment before anything else was even close to as good. And those were actually a little weird.. But if I would have to guess what the next console would look like, I would have to say, it won't be much different from what we've been getting so far. Smaller, thinner, maybe, but it'll still have the controller and the rest, like its been having for years.
