A perfect match

A failing video rental service buys a struggling electronics store. A perfect match. Now Blockbuster hasten Circuit City's demise. I wish nothing but evil on Blockbuster, because they charged me a huge late fee for being 1 minute late.

No, it's not a perfect match

on the contrary, this is an evil match.

Circuit City may be failing, but one thing they can't be faulted for is how they handle electronics sales. There is significantly less pressure than Best Buy, and more diversity in video brands than Best Buy. What Circuit City fails in is the following.

- Car audio. They refuse to diversify their offerings to other brands, even Kenwood.
- Video games. Their game section is pathetic, to say the least.
- CD/DVD/VHS. Their media area is usually disorganized, and it's extremely difficult to find what you're looking for.
- Home electronics (i.e. kitchen). You're forced to buy online and even then the selection is lacking.

Don't get me wrong - Circuit City's pickup offering is yards better than anyone else's - 24 minutes or you get a gift card compared to Best Buy's "up to 24 hours" - but there are areas they really need help with.

What's the point? Are they going to consolidate so they can split
the bankruptcy lawyer costs? And where the hell did Blockbuster
get $1 billion?

If you're one of the high level managements of Cicuit City and reading this, tips to turn your company around:
1. Get rid of those rebates!.
2. Bring back the major appliances.
3. Retrain the young salespeople. The may know how to sell the products, but don't know a thing about customer services.
