Odd comparisons
by skrubol February 23, 2007 11:17 AM PST
1st, the article headline is a little odd. It's not like this is Canon's first 10MP SLR. They have a 16, 12 and another 10 MP SLR. Also I'm not sure what Nikon product they're countering with this camera. No Nikon SLR I could find has over 5FPS. This is a high-speed pro camera. The only camera that can be compared to it is its predecessor (8MP, 8FPS.) If you want high-resolution, go with the 1Ds MkII. That gets you 16MP.

Canon said sraw is what?, Canon said.
by Syrrys February 23, 2007 11:38 AM PST
Canon said sraw has a quarter the resolution, half the file size and a quarter the resolution of conventional raw images, Canon said.
While I do love palindromes, this "sentence" doesn't quite make the cut and really doesn't make sense.

elsewhere....

K so now I've moved past the grammar, but still does this make sense to anyone else?
.5 the file size but only .25 the resolution? Is there some funny math going on here that I'm missing? Shouldn't a quarter the resolution take only a quarter of the storage space?
Thanks!

We fixed that grammar.
What I really like about Canon
by make_or_break May 23, 2007 10:25 PM PDT
Is that it puts pressure on Nikon--the brand I do shoot--to continue to develop their product responses. Competition is indeed a good thing.
