Sweet! But just for perspective...

This is a great deal for a digital SLR and it's easy to see that Canon is serious about taking the digital SLR market from its old film nemesis Nikon, but just for perspective consider that the budget film version of the Rebel 5 years ago was selling for $150. Digital is requiring a bigger investment for the student or amateur than film did, as well as a difficult learning curve, as the traditional regime of information about film speed/focal lengths/aperture requires advanced skills in both film and digital to understand. Still, this is looking like the candidate for my first digital slr...

I purchased the Rebel Xt

I love it, definately the camera to start with... only drawback is the
sensor size... the 1.6 ratio compared to 35mm kinda is a bummer.
