Well I would. My Dell Inspiron 9400 is perfectly Capable of displaying movies in 1080P.

Just a shame Dell decided to go with Betamax V2 (Bluray). Once someone offers an HD DVD drive for it I might upgrade.

I wouldn't use it for HD movies, just for backup purposes. Storing 30 gigs of data is good enough for me.

Why would u need Blu ray? (At its cost!) If you use the High def atleast it is already a supported format with more space.. Let's not have another Betamax..

here i'm thinking i'm going to be reading about a laptop, but instead i have an article in front of me illustrating the blu-ray/hd-dvd battle...not exactly what i wanted to hear about.

Beat Apple to the punch!

Apple used to be the leader in innovation, but they no longer
include FireWire 800 ports on their computers for some unknown
reason, and they missed the opportunity to start their x86 Macs
with Blu-Ray drives... Further, you would think Apple's laptops
would be 1080p (1920x1080) native capable, but the resolution
falls short... :(
