You obviously don't have Tivo

I haven't met a single Tivo user who doesn't think it's worth $12.95/month for the service (including my wife...who is now a big fan although she thought it was a waste until she experienced its benefits firsthand). Everyone would like it to be free, myself included. But at $19.95, I'm getting a 2nd unit. Let's call it a "quality of life" decision. I'm free to watch on my schedule, not someone elses, and place my priorities where they should be.

TiVo is worth it to me

I've had my tivo now for two years. I can't imagine going back to living without it.

I hated the old days of stacks of tapes, trying to keep track of what was on what tape, where I was on a particular tape, tapes that would die before I got through them, degeneration of tape quality, etc.

And I hated searching paper guides, hoping to remember the names of specials I had heard about, often missing shows that I would have loved to see, if I'd only known it was on, missing reruns at weird hours, etc.

Then I got my tivo, and television watching became easier. Then the warrenty ran out, and I upgraded from 40 gig to over 300 gig. Now there's always a wide spectrum of shows to watch.

I don't have a decent machine at home that I can use to network to tivo, so I've not yet had the opportunity to move files off tivo and onto dvd.
That's something to which I look forward.

I'd love to pick up a second tivo - and at this price, it would be a no brainer, but there's one problem. I only have one televison. I suppose I _could_ hook both against the same televison. But I already have a vcr, dvd, tivo, and cable hooked up to that television. One more thing and my brain might melt down trying to keep the connections plugged in right.
