VHS is still the popular format for many countries in the eastern part of our globe. DVDs are expensive for many there.

They are still superior and cheaper to the DRM infested Tivo.

I think even though retail sales of hollywood movies in this format will drop, its value will remain strong for some time to come.

The HiFi VHS VCR is the BEST audio tape player EVER. HiFi VHS uses the entire width of the tape for the audio track. This is a LOT of space to record music. I have for years dumped LP and CD to VHS. The reproduction is equal to the CD in quality, and you get six hours of continuous music. Cheapo tapes are as good as premium for recording music. For archiving a music collection the VHS is the BEST solution ever. The hookup is simple, I use a WAVE Radio/CD. CD "line
out" to VCR "line in", a video monitor is handy to keep track of the elapsed time etc. For LP, just put a stack on the changer and play into the VCR "line in". Then play back the VCR to find the dead end, load another batch of LP and continue. It is possible to find HiFi VHS VCRs that are dead as far as the video is concerned, BUT the audio is still very much alive and waiting to be used as a SUPER music player. Video heads seem to be the first to crap out, while the Audio heads live forever. Also, a stand-alone tape rewinder is nice to have, pick one up before this item becomes extinct. I have found this item for very cheapo.
