I think he finally realize how stupid it is to have only one button on the mouse :)

Further evidence that Apple is the leader of innovation in an
otherwise stale, "follow the leader" PC industry.

Another Great Example that Apple Rips People Off

"Taking advantage of all of the features of the Mighty Mouse requires the latest version of Mac OS X Tiger"

I see, so people HAVE TO upgrade their old OS to the most "advance" and most "innovative" OSX Tigger AND spend more money for a mouse with more than one button. Hey, if some people decide to to become a sucker, so be it :)

MM can be used with any versions of Mac OS X
by August 3, 2005 2:00 AM PDT
You can use the Mighty Mouse with earlier versions of OS X and use
all buttons, you just won't get full 360 scrolling with the trackball
because it required some apps and the OS to support it.
It IS true, it can be used with any OS
by August 3, 2005 11:24 AM PDT
Almost anything can be done to it if you know enough. And don't
make it sound like Apple is a criminal by trying to use marketing
stratagy to get people to switch to a new product. MANY
companies, including your precious Microsoft use it too. I am
sitting here using a Microsoft keyboard on a Mac 10.4 that I also
use VirtualPC to run Windows XP, 2000. and Linux Redhat on, and I
have made the same keyboard work seamlessly on all of them. Just
a little tweaking and you can get the new Apple mouse to work with
anything!

I see where your arguement is coming from, but you are very far
from being able to convince anybody. You have no facts to back
up your opinion. If the mouse does happen to break, that is
what a warrenty is for. What can you really expect from a 50
dollar mouse anyways? I am using Microsoft's Intellimouse or
whatever it is wireless contraption, and I am only half satisfied
with it. I have had the keyboard apart more than once to fix
buttons, and this set costs over $100. And what is innovative on
it? Microsoft broke away from the orinary by putting a whopping
scroll wheel on the keyboard! Talk about out of the ordinary!
Apple's new mouse may not be as good as it can be, or not as
creative as people expect them to be, but it is a start and its
better than the original mouse...which might I add that I had for
over a year and never had a problem with. Even the fact that it
has one button and no scroll wheel didn't bother me, because it
worked just fine.

Apple Innovates!
by William Squire August 3, 2005 11:22 AM PDT
Apple Computer has done it again. With a stroke of genius from the creative mind of Steve Jobs comes a revolutionary new computer pointing device.

Yes, innovation never stops over at Apple, where cool, new, and flashy seem to be the keyword criteria for all new products.

Too bad they couldn?t make it wireless. If you ask me, it looks like a bar of soap.

About the mouse...
by Jon N. August 4, 2005 7:16 AM PDT
#1: Xerox had the original idea for it.
#2: Apple Inc. bought the rights to it.
#3: After the orginal 1984 Mac came on the scene, M$ & everyone else had to copy it.
#4: There is only one other mouse type device out on the market that has a 360* scroll wheel, & they're called "trackballs", or "marble mice".
#5: After a lot of user complaints, Apple has made a mouse that will work better with its OS, & looks good.
#6: Since over 90% of the respondants have NEVER used it, then most of these posts are inflammatory, & irrelavant.
#7: Apple usually innovates, & M$ duplicates.
#8: Not all things Apple are good.(i.e., Liza, The Cube)
#9: A wired mouse that costs as much as some wireless mice on the market...NOT so good.
#10: Apple needs to make their keyboards multimedia & ergonomic, & they need to make this new mouse market price competitive, to compete in the input device market.
#11: We all have our opinions, so we all need to get along with each other, & cut out the hatespeak!

A bit confused
by dobeowner August 4, 2005 6:55 PM PDT
The source of the controversy here escapes me. Why and how
could anyone argue about the merits, or lack thereof, of a device
that has just entered the market? It seems to me that the only
thing Apple is guilty of is listening to their customer base and
responding to their requests. Those who like the older Mac mice
will probably appreciate the added functionality of the new;
those who never liked the original will probably hold to those
feelings. The company simply added features and kept brand
recognition. Show me any corporation that does not do the same
and I will show you a corporation that no longer exists.

Not Wireless (yawn)
by kieranmullen August 4, 2005 6:56 PM PDT
Why not pair it up with a wireless keyboard? Now I dont use a wireless keyboard or mouse and dont understand why people would need them (Unless they use their rolls of fat for a mini table to put the keyboard on) But it seems that why everyone is making these days... besides no one is ever going to use all the buttons. Its mike Operas mouse gestures. Sure some people will learn it and think its a cool idea, but people dont want to learn how to use the mouse each time the go to differnet computers...

Wireless
by dobeowner August 4, 2005 7:21 PM PDT
For me personally, the allure of wireless is simply to help reduce
cable clutter and for the convenience of being able to place either
my Mac or my PC in a location that is not dictated by cable length.
It only makes sense to be able to control a Media Center PC or Mac
from across the family room and not have the worry of a tether.
This is the first release of the MM and I'm quite sure a bluetooth
version is on the horizon for those who wish to use the technology.

The PC mouse variants offer many buttons and features ever since. So more buttons and features to the Mac's mouse is "a stroke of genius"?! And that's "innovation"?!

Come on...

Apple's just giving you what you've always desired: a mouse that's like the PC mouse. Everything else, like the ultra-sensitive blahs, are just "candies" to the same thing.

Give me a break...
