Why
by sanenazok June 3, 2005 3:57 PM PDT
can anyone tell me why I should give an older iPod back? They have changed only slightly, and especially not aesthetically. If my "older" iPod still works fine I hope I can sell a $300 toy more more than 10% of the price of a new one. It's like 2 years old. They all play back the same files. The only reason to do so is the defective battery, but if you have minimum brains you can just replace it yourself -a non-OEM batt costs $15 on eBay. So 1 in a million explode, it's not like it keep this on my bare body. It would have been cheaper for Apple to have made the batteries removable, but that might be a hazard to their planned obsolescence.

If it is broken.

The only reason I can see for returning an iPod through this type of scheme is if it is genuinely broken. If you've dropped it one too many times, it may wind up cheaper (or more desirable) to buy a new one, than to send the old one to Apple and pay for refurbishing/repair.

Or, for those with the extra pennies, it will be a good way to get a little discount if you are wanting to upgrade, for example, if the 20GB is no longer big enough and you need a 60GB.

The biggest incentive from Apple's perspective is, as the article said, a ruse to get people into the shop. Once they are in, the likelihood of them buying something else or being talked into buying a more expensive replacement iPod is much higher.

Ipod don't work and Apple NO HELP
by rodxxx March 28, 2006 8:49 AM PST
Just spent a very frustration evening trying to get the lousy liuttle Apple Ipod to work with the nlousy Ibook. Apparently the Chinese engineers think this thing actually works, It doesn't....especially with the terrible, confusing and poorly translated (and wrong) instructions. HOW DO I MAKE THE THING WORK AS ADVERTISED?
