The biggest incentive from Apple's perspective is, as the article said, a ruse to get people into the shop. Once they are in, the likelihood of them buying something else or being talked into buying a more expensive replacement iPod is much higher.

- Just spent a very frustration evening trying to get the lousy liuttle Apple Ipod to work with the nlousy Ibook. Apparently the Chinese engineers think this thing actually works, It doesn't....especially with the terrible, confusing and poorly translated (and wrong) instructions. HOW DO I MAKE THE THING WORK AS ADVERTISED?
