Really? Men more than Women?

All the rest of the survey results make sense except this one. Perhaps it is just me, but I seem to see more women than men using the iPod. Maybe the men are buying it as a cool new gadget thing to have and never use it... or maybe they end up giving it to their girlfriend?

I think they are gifts as much as for themselves ... speaking as a
man. Shows how good these surveys really are.
iPod vs. everyone else

"As many as 22 million American adults, or about 11 percent of
the U.S. population, own iPods or other MP3 players, a new study
has found."

Nice to see there is the iPod and all the rest are just lumped
under the term "other MP3 players". Goes to show how much
impact the iPod has made (and how little any other player has).

Its lumped for a reason....

I think they are lumping the iPod into one big category for a couple of reasons. First, it obviously is like talking about ?IBM compatible? computers, Rice Crispies, Kleenex, and other items where a brand name becomes synonymous with the type of thing itself. Second, most people don?t own one yet, and in reality most people will never actually get an iPod, they?ll wind up buying other makes of MP3 players, not iTune players/iPod. It will royally peeve Apple fans, but the iPod will get buried under a flood of newer and cheaper devices. It?s a classic thing in the business world, ?first to market? types are often left holding the bag in the end.

As many as 22 million American adults, or about 11 percent of the U.S. population, own iPods or other MP3 players, a new study has found.

22 million iPod and mp3 owners divided by 295 million Americans = about 7.5 percent of Americans owning an mp3 player, NOT 11 percent.
