Cell=Hype

Think the "emotion engine" times 10 hype. Dont buy into it.

With Sony, IBM and Toshiba involved in this project I doubt that they are just making things up. The Emotion Engine was substantially better than the PS1 core, and I expect at least similar gains. But why guess, just wait a few days....

I think they should calm down the expectations of looking at everything from cell phones to servers. I mean, the last processor didn't make that much splash outside of the PS2 console, why should this one? Besides, why would they invest so highly into the processor that runs the console? Sounds like a supply nightmare to me.

Big Difference

They never wanted to use the Emotion Engine outside the PS2 as it is "just" a 128 bit (including the registers) processor/DSP unit. However, Cell is a processor design with no percific job. Expect the G6 to be a Cell!
