LCD stands should not be included in the measure

LCD is indeed much slimmer especially for those who consider mounting the device on the wall. The profile shown in the picture includes the TV stand in the measure, which may not make a fair comparison.

Bad measurement

I agree. Measuring the flat panel base is misleading. You might as well measure the size of the entertainment unit that holds the CRT.

CRT projectors give you an even flatter screen up front than flat panels :-)

Stand should be included

The stand should be included in the measurement because how else will it stand without it? I know you can hang them on the wall but 90% of the people that get them don't hang them on the wall.......
LCD depth

Your are not being fair to the LCD screen industry, as you are including the stand. Most, if not all LCD screens can remove the stand and the LCD can be hung on the wall.

Did any of you read the article?

You CAN remove the foot, but most consumers DON'T.

Considering the foot dimension is perfectly legitimate. If a consumer can't look at that picture and determine the LCD screen itself is much slimmer than 12 inches, they aren't intelligent enough to own an electronic device anyway.

This is a follow up story that refers to the same picture. The earlier comments were based on a story that did not mention the stat of how many people used the stand.
