Just be sure to patch your living room entertainment center once a week
by Jonathan October 13, 2004 6:53 AM PDT
Yah. Just make sure to keep your living room entertainment center patched. Why the hell would anyone want to run Windows on an entertainment platform? Are the masochists? Sure. There's a reason to run Windows on your work and home desktop. Compatibility. Both with games and other utilities and tools. But why in the name of all that is good would ANYONE run windows on their home entertainment system. Are you people stupid?

Mindless MS Bashing

No. Not everybody who disagrees with you is stupid. Compatibility is a huge factor in putting Microsoft software in the living room. Look at the MediaCenter PC and show me another device that does so much so well. None. Nothing. Nadda. Zero.

Your argument would hold a bit more water if you changed the words "Microsoft Windows" to "General Purpose OS" because EVERY OS requires patching, whether it is Windows, Linux, MacOS, or anything else... Although... if you want to debate the merits of a general purpose OS in the living room, you'll probably be on the losing side of that argument too.

is still producing milk, at a much-reduced rate for both the farmer and the consumer.

Nonetheless, Microsoft will once again convince consumers to pay an immoderate price for yet another marginally improved product.
