"exclusively" is a Misnomer

It would indicate that other carriers are not allowed in the game. As it turns out, Cingulair was the only carrier willing to sign up under Apple's terms.

A better term would simply be "only."

I believe Stephenson comments are valid about wireless being
the future and I applaud them for attempting to offer new
services. But AT&T is behind the game.

The ONLY thing halting my purchase of an iPhone is AT&T's slow
last generation wireless service. Viewing any kind of streaming
video, or media rich Web sites for that matter, is going to be
painful. Not because of the iPhone, it is a work of art, but due to
AT&T taking the technology low-road.

iPhone gets a 10+ , AT&T a 2 (maybe?)

it's the raw speed of your internet access point.
Stephenson should put his money where his mouth is.

AT&T lags Verizon and Sprint in 3G products and coverage. The iPhone is 2G wireless technology; did not have to be that way. AT&T squandered the lead that it had in 3G coverage. Stephenson is "selling his weakness" and hopes that no one will notice.

Att&t's decision to keep 2G in iPhone ...
by nlitened June 25, 2007 11:22 AM PDT
I think the main reason for Att&t to stick with 2g and not roll out 3G is because they charge high prices per minute and in video that amounts to lots o' dough - or so they hope.
I think after the dust of the initial iphone sales settles, other providers will leap-frog at&t with new versions in the works and - more importantly - with 3G speeds.
At&t better get their acts together, if they want to be a leader in this fast changing era ...
