I hate that they lump these all together

Is it me, or are Zigbee, UWB, NFC, and Bluetooth more of a peripheral and interconnect technology. They are what they are, they should stop looking to be so broad and focus on being better at what they're good for -- replacing the myriad of CE cables that clutter behind your entertainment center. From there, there is a world of opportunity including the already popular headset connection. Now, move to products such as stereo headphones, stereo SPEAKERS (these would be PERFECT in the emergence of wireless 7.1 systems), gamepads, remote controls, security access points, how about car stereo to MP3 player connections? Wi-fi is a great home network backbone, but it would be nice to have these technologies be more bridge devices.

Wireless USB will fill the bill

BT is not shipped as a standard item on many PCs, it is rather an expensive add-on. Wireless USB has a much better chance to become a standard item in the same way as WLAN is close to become standard on lap-tops.

Therefore BT will hardly stand a chance.
