Can you really be productive with this 'microblogging' tool? No, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing.

Dumbs Down Our Society
by mysticpain May 30, 2007 5:54 AM PDT
Twitter is a perfect example of the "dumbing down" of society. Make it easy, push a flashy icon, misspell, no thought required!

it's a way to vent, if spelling and thoughtless comments bother anyone Twitter isn't for them.

Looks like a bumpy ride........
by m.o.t.u. May 30, 2007 1:51 PM PDT
Caroline points to the future of social communication - mostly electronically enabled, emphasis on speed, requiring minimal tertiary education and cognitive effort.

If you have little in common with folks like Caroline, it is unlikely you'll be need to communicate with her on this level.

If you had more important issues to discuss, it would require more effort than this latest "craze".

Regards.
Sore throat?

Ice cream does help so dose cheese and bread, a crosont(you know those french things) and anything that holds it's shape as it goes down your throat. Maby a fizzzy drink like a 7up or something like it. And I am still thinking about twitter but for me texting on my cell phone is expensive.

Microblogging is personal spam + twitt = Spitt
by rcardona2k May 30, 2007 9:53 AM PDT
Don't spit in my direction and don't spit on the Internet. Save the text message bandwidth and spare the world of your 'creative' thoughts in 140 characters or less.

Think of what one million monkeys twitting on the Internet creates...

Do you want to be a part of that?

Niche.
by lewissalem May 30, 2007 10:16 AM PDT
I believe that twitter fills a niche for journalists who need to update quick information to report on live events. As for the average user, I don't care about what they're eating for dinner.

A couple questions
by jailerjoe May 30, 2007 7:56 PM PDT
Why did you want to make your disapointment known? What did you get out of it? Why do you "want to jump on the social-media bandwagon? Do you feel left out or something?

"The beauty of Twitter is that, unlike a full-out blog, there's no obligation to be philosophical, thought-provoking or grammatically sound" Yes, those things are really taxing.

I just don't get why you feel the need to announce that you just ran 6 miles and want pizza. Who cares?

Twitter is just so completely ridiculous. Hopefully it'll just go away as do most ridiculous fads.

Made my blogging better
by cmjohnston May 31, 2007 4:09 PM PDT
Since I've started using Twitter my blog postings have gotten longer and more frequent. Since I'm posting short thoughts all the time on Twitter I don't feel compelled to post short needless post on my blog. I also come across interesting ideas on Twitter that I can blog about. There are also useful applications to Twitter like Twitter timer, S.F. quake(I think)-earthquake notifications, and hurricane (will give hurricane and evacuation info when hurricane season starts).
