When does "Findology" come into play, and...
by Quendrith May 17, 2007 5:41 PM PDT
What about a commercial/ad-free search for the purist? Global gaia
sponsor-free Google? We'd like it at www.screenmancer.tv on our
site and all over the world... Findology... not Adology...

Inconsistent navigation everywhere
by bartszyszka May 18, 2007 6:48 AM PDT
It's really annoying how the navigation is so inconsistent across the top and also under the search box. Sometimes "Mail" says "Gmail", sometimes it doesn't. Menu options gump around as you click through the options at the top. Then below the search when I searched for "Nosferatu", there were Web/Images/Video links, but when I clicked on "Images", the menu disappeared. It's such a mess. I hope they're still working on cleaning this up.

You want uber search engine, try Anoox
by kathy_torez May 18, 2007 10:05 AM PDT
Gogle & yahoo are Uber for wall street, but look closely and you see Anoox search engine
is uber for main street, for us. Here is why:

1- Anoox search result are democratically generated by knowledge of the people, that is YOU and me.
2- it's operated on an open source model, so NO one company will control it,
3- and best of all, at least from my point of view as a small business owner, it is not-for-profit
so the cost of Advertising is much lower on Anoox. In fact we have saved like $10,000 by Advertising through Anoox over last 6 months compared to 6 months prior to that when we were advertising through google or yahoo.

So if you want the real uber search engine, I say use Anoox & advertise through them.

Oh ya, another cool thing about Anoox is that they share part of their Ad revenues with
the people.

Given all above facts - which search engine is really Uber?

Anoox who?
by andrew77uk May 19, 2007 4:34 AM PDT
I am sure its a nice search engine:) but google has been around a lot longer, and is still by far the best search engine in the world. Who really cares if a compnay owns it. People have to make a living! What pisses me off is people that are anti business, open sourse is very good dont get me wrong, but being anti apple anti MS anti business is really stupid! Remember google started as a uni project. More importantly its still free!

My sentiments exactly too
by caudio_roma May 19, 2007 11:31 AM PDT
My sentiments exactly too. That is Google & Yahoo are Uber search engines for wall street while Anoox is Uber for main street.
I really think that Anoox will dramatically change the search engine business landscape.
I mean here you have a search engine that is powered by the knowledge of the people so it is going to be adopted by more & more people and you also have a search engine that delivers much lower cost of advertising because it is community based. In fact we have been advertising on Anoox too for sometime, and we have greatly decreased
our cost of advertising. So what is not to like about Anoox! I guess you would not like it if you are a Google/Yahoo share holder or a web master making money off Google Adsense, but for rest of us, my hats off to Anoox.

BTW, we make great income from Anoox Affiliate program, it is really cool. In fact in most months we make more from our Affiliate program than we spend on Advertising on Anoox. You can see details of it here:

New search sucks
by niravabhavsar May 18, 2007 11:47 PM PDT
New google search layout purely sucks. I like Altavista and alltheweb.com better than this. http://www.alltheweb.com is the best so far.

Video and picture ads on the homepage?
by indolent May 19, 2007 12:13 PM PDT
A quick loading web page with relevant results is what made google in the first place. Now they're looking at videos and picture ads? They day they do this is the day I find a new search engine to use.
