You should check out http://www.cribcrawler.com. They just launched a flash based web site last week for searching and listing both rentals and homes for sale. It's really easy to find exactly what you're looking for. They have slider bars where you can specify a range of values for features like price, bedrooms, bathrooms, square feet and distance to search location. The content is just getting started, but with the ease of use and fact that it's free to list and search, it should take off pretty fast. Try searching in new york, ny (that's where I found the most properties anyway).
