It leaves an important feature missing (cut/paste), and gets lots of buzz for it, some time later they include that feature and get even more buzz.

So QuickOffice with cut/paste and full editing/ PDF viewing goes for $19.95 on the iPhone.

And without editing or PDF viewing, $19.95 on Android. Conclusion: Quickoffice sucks.

Have a look at the reviews on the app store. It would seem you are correct. QuickOffice appears to indeed suck. Shame--it looks like a promising app.

My really old Palm Tungsten has Cut/Paste even in the most basic applications de-facto. Why all this noise about Apple?

Because you are not a programmer and you cannot understand how difficult it is to write copy and paste on an OS with sandbox apps like the iphone.
Think about it. If your tungsten is so advance, why is the palm platform dying? Copy and paste does not make a system advance. Lack of copy and paste does not make one obsolete too. People are happy with iPhone's copy and paste because it is the most advance OS to date with some features lacking. Having those features coming up makes the most advance OS better. That's all about the noise.

Me thinks my iPhone is the best device I have ever used. The missing features have been missed, but are more than made up for with all the other things that add up to the best user experience I have ever had. Upon the next free update, this device will extend it's lead further. I actually feel sorry for anyone that does not have one. I have had WinMobile and Crackberry in the past. They simply cannot compete at this time, regardless of which features they have. User experience hands down goes to iPhone. Amen

The app looks promising, still needs a little work in the eyes of the reviewers, tho'.

I'm waiting a few weeks to check out the upcoming DataViz suite and doing a comparison of my own - the competition should be good for both products!

I think the bigger point of this article is that there is finally a potentially quality app on the iPhone for actually working with Office docs instead of just viewing them. This is a feature I somewhat miss from my Palm and Windows Mobile days. Didn't use it a lot, but there's been times where it would have been handy to have. Screen shots look nice, I hope the app is stable and functional. Gotta wonder though, is Apple going to trump them with a mobile iWork? They already have a Keynote controller, could it be they are waiting 'til iPhone 3.0 is released to announce such a thing since, as Quickoffice shows, an office-like app without cut and paste is pretty silly. But I'd imagine that Apple would charge for such an app. They charge for the Keynote controller, after all.

I think it's also interesting that Quickoffice's copy and paste implementation is very similar to the official Apple version. The start and end selection indicators are identical and I haven't seen them in any other app - authorized or not. Did they copy it from Apple quickly after the 3.0 beta was released or are they collaborating with Apple?

Just brought QuickOffice 1.2 for $12.99. I brought this for being able to transfer file from and to my iphone 3gs. the problem is that I can't turn on the authentication. T here is no such tab/option for either the Iphone 3G nor 3GS. Would the authentication option only be available from Ipod which was use on the demo by Quickoffice.

anyone has successfully turn on authentication on file transfering pleaes mail me [e-mail].

on the quickoffice demo it's using the ipod not iphone, and I just brought version 1.2 and I can't set authentication for file transfer.
