Comments on: Palm opening WebOS SDK up to developers

We still don't know the price of the Pre, but Palm is ready to start letting developers get down and dirty with the software that will run on its comeback hope.

It may be too early in the game, but I hope the Mojo Javascript interfaces resemble or at least map easily to the BONDI or PhoneGap Javascript interfaces. It would be nice to be able to write a web app for the Pre & have it run on other smartphones as well.

Palm did show off some new apps running on the Pre, however. One such program was the mobile version of the movie ticket site Fandango. On the Pre, you'll be able to view movie trailers, view show times, and buy tickets through the Fandango app. In addition, when you purchase tickets, an appointment will be added to your Calendar to remind about the show. While it took a little while to load, the quality of the video trailers was quite good.

Doh ! Steve Jobs got beat to the punch. Actually , this phone jabbed the iPhone to a bloody pulp !

How is that any different then Apple fanboys and Skype?
Or Apple fanboys in general. Apple doesn't create, it buys or steals.
Just like every other large tech company.

You're the last person to talk, you iphone fanboys got all excited about copy n paste. You wanna talk about yesteryears technology, copy n paste is EVEN on old windows smarphones. An app is an app regardless, obviously the iphone has been out for a few yrs now. But copy n paste......Stop making a fool of yourself.

It WILL be an iphone killer if the pal m developers do not lock in apps like Apple has done.

Which type of lock in are you talking about? Palm will not be licensing the webOS to other manufacturers, so you will have to get hardware from them. And until the device is out there, we do not know for sure how easy it will be to develop "standalone" apps and upload them freely to thePre without going through an "AppStore"-like service.
