So that is the reason why the BB Storm does not have wifi.... These cellular carriers have way too much power...

One of the reasons why I have a Touch instead of Iphone. I have access to hundreds of wifi hotspots in my area. I just can't justify spending $30 each month for a data plan for the small amount of data actually transferred via a phone.

Mobile operators, like Verizon, should embrace WiFi instead of fighting it. WiFi offloads data traffic from their network, allowing them to offer lower priced unlimited data plans to more subscribers without additional network cost.

This is why we, consumers, need 4G networks first thing in the morning.
Fears of Exaflood won't be real as far as 4G networks will have been deployed across the continental USA.

Wi Fi access frees up their network though. I often travel internationally and even though I pay a small fee for better rates, they add up quickly. The Data is close to $20 per MB. OUCH... I shut my data off and left Wi Fi on. It is able to retrieve my email and any applications I want from itunes or App store BTW I am trying the Iphone. I love it! I can also use some free applications to call the USA to call free over the internet. Otherwise it would be .59 cents/minute. In China it was $1.99/minute. AT & T does not allow the calls to be routed over the cellular network. If they did they would make money from the data. "ICall" limits calls to 5 minutes, but they are free and crystal clear!
