Comments on: Palm's WebOS app strategy needs more details

It's obviously very early in the public life of Palm's new WebOS and Pre smartphone, but developers want to know how the company will manage applications for the device.

But it has all the roadmap already laid down by others (called Apple, Google...), so Palm should have already solved a lot more questions that it did.

Even being a newcomer to the cell phone market, Apple already has decided on price and date of release (OK, month of release).

Palm build the phone "for developers" and forgot to define how to allow them into the game.

Wow... Late? Apple was late with the iPhone and look where they are today.

Palm started with the PalmOS, an original touchscreen OS that was wonderful on the Treo 650, but you say they are late to the game? Perhaps they are late with a follow-up, but there were early to the game.

I would by now if it was on AT&T. Sprint, I won't touch--bad history with me.

Apple was late to the entire smart phone game and still hit a home run. All Palm needs to do is make a come back.

Every mexican geek (like me) is likely having a very nice and funny day with the name selected by Palm for its operating system, WebOS, it's one of those trademarks that will go down in the marketing books like the Chevy Nova.

Slide-out keyboard
Friendlier for e-mail, text?

I think most people would rather text on a real keybd vs virtual.

Once again, i'll say that this is the first phne to make the iPhone look old and outdated!

Pre and the WebOS are game changers , makes iPhone look plodding and way behind the curve.

Krazit left out many things such as the innovative gesture area , the ability to flick the "card" off the screen to close a program , the brilliance of the "Synergy" which pulls info from many different online services into one list and auto-updates your contacts , the physical form of the Pre fits the hand much nicer and is easier on the eyes than the slab-phone he is comparing it to. The list goes on and on.
Updates on Pre are pushed out OTA and there is no need to connect to a home computer/iTunes to work.
The iPhone is iTunes-centric , whereas the Pre is Web-centric. Most people`s lives don`t revolve around iTunes , they revolve around the WEB !
If you look at a side-by-side of the Pre and iPhone , the iPhone looks ugly and lacks style.
