add to the fact that Palm is not really relevant anymore in a market they helped to create.

David Pogue , live on CNBC , said Palm nailed it. I agree. It does more than the iPhone , and does it BETTER. As a bonus it looks better and more ergonomically correct than the iPhone`s large , flat , slab.
It`s curvaceous and cute and women will love the built-in make-up mirror. It`s multi-tasking abilities are unparalleled.
But the neatest thing about the Pre , is that it came out of nowhere and caught everyone off guard.
BTW...the puck-like wireless charger is magnetic and holds your phone upright at the ready anywhere you plug it in. Genius. And two ex Apple design gurus designed it ;)

Palm will have a lot of begging to do with the developer community. Many palm developers (including myself) felt completely burned by the way Palm treated everyone a few years ago when Palm was bought out. Years of work basically left in limbo due to the incompetence that Palm displayed.

I won't say "never" but they have their work cut out for them. The Pre does look very interesting. I'm doing iPhone development now but I will keep the Pre in sight. At the moment, there is no way whatsoever I will devote a single line of code to Palm. But hell has been known to freeze over from time to time.

This thing is hot! I've been waiting for a TRUE one handed VERTICAL slider like my Samsung i730. I can't stand having to slide out the keyboard on the side having to use both hands to do so. I just wonder if you can sync Windows Mobile Contacts and Calendar etc and also how much capacity the memory is/has..anyone know that and the complete specs for it?

Being a former Treo 650 user this is a welcome surprise. I hope with the launch of this "Palm Pre" that they start listening to their users more. Back in the heyday when Palm was a giant in the smart phone world they were too arrogant and totally ignored what the users were saying. I?m referring to the total lack of wi-fi support on the Treo line up until the last generation and even then you had to buy an SD card wireless card. Back then when 3G networks were still being built and EDGE was insanely expensive, wi-fi would have been a real cost saver for people.

I've had a treo 650 for years now, tough as nails! Dropped, kicked, broken antenna, case split open etc! All repaired @ the sprint storewhile I waited, got insurance ha! Palm os, very solid, easy to use, sure it's antiquated, but easy to use. It's a phone for God's sake, and organization tool in one! The Pre with it's new os, eye candy ui, and Palms reputation as the first organizational tool that replaced all those fancy paper organizers in the 90's, is going to be a great product! I also have been with sprint for over 10 years, no complaints, they have always come through for me! I will upgrade to the Pre!

Everything I've read indicated the PRE won't have any type of SD card capability. I see this as eliminating some of the felxiibilty that I have with my current Treo 755P, such as not having to load everything onto the phone. Could this be a future enhancement?.
