Here is speculation on how it went.... husband thinks wife is having
affaire with another man, places monitoring software on
computer..., finds out she's having affaire with another woman...,
thinks, "I been trying to get her to do this for years with 3 way",
calls her on it and says" hey, I want to play too, and do the 3 way
thing", wife and female friend say no way.., he gets pissed, and
says some choice words, and says I'll fix her by embarrasing her in
public, and then divorcing her...., uhhhh, that sounds about right.

Sorry, but the odds are extremely good that your scenario ain't the case: there's too much betrayal, mistrust, and disrespect coming at you from the cheating spouse involved to suddenly start thinking about something normally seen in the average porn mag. If kids are involved, then there's a lot more to be pissed about on top of all that... again, not something that would give way at all to thoughts of 'menage, y'dig?

In this case, I think that the wife is guilty of being terminally naive.
In this world, one does not engage in secret affairs on a computer
used by many other people and without password protection. It's
obvious to me that we cannot count on protection under the law at
all. It behooves us to conduct our "affairs" accordingly.

you seem to have a real ax to grind. If I were you, I'd be looking for a good shrink.
a better source, perhaps?

In case you would like people to become educated about a topic, it
might serve to perhaps offer a better alternative than wikipedia...

Anybody who cheats on his/her spouse...

deserves to get royally dragged through the mud and publicly humiliated. We should bring back the stockade for this kind of behavior.

Infidelity is painful and humiliating to the wronged partner, there's no reason in the world why the perpetrator(s) should be spared that pain. That said, I do hope the gentleman realizes he can only push this so far. It sounds trite, but vengence is never sweet; it can't make her love him again.

Frankly, it's rather surprising people are still so naive when it comes to electronic communications. It doesn't take a hardcore developer to know that electronic communications can be copied and traced.

There is a very easy solution to problems like this...

Be honest with your partner. Even if being honest is uncomfortable;
even if it means telling your partner things that you think he or she
might not want to hear.

I don't know what all the fuss is about ! If their relationship is that full of mistrust then surely it is better to call it a day, rather than making each other miserable. And the details don't really matter. The only reason the husband wants them "aired" is to get his own back which is very childish and petty. And not showing their children a "very good example". They are going to suffer more than his wife.
