So here it is ... there is now first and second class citizen and what diferentiate them is carying a chip that allows the government to trace them everywhere they go. How long till entrance is denied to anyone late paying a bill, not showing enough support for war / patriotism or not a GOP member ?

Not able to serve on a Jury?

My wife thinks this would be great since if you cannot enter the building, you obviously cannot serve on a jury!

One Can Hope

I don't see the Feds working very hard to issue Real ID's. True a Passport works (at least I think they do) but how does that help the dirt poor get a "Real ID"?

The feds are demanding that the states do their dirty work.

The real irony is that while most of the states have a problem with it, it's their own Senators and congressmen who passed the legislation. Irony. The could pass another bill to get rid of Real ID or make it a Federal Mandate to spend Federal Money doing a Federal ID for Federal Purposes to all members of the Federation upon birth or citizens ship.

Except that...

...if you fail to appear in court when legally summonsed (for "jury duty", for example)... the courts usually, automatically, issue a warrant for you (yes, even if the reason you failed to appear in the courtroom was because the -court officers- (at the entrance) refused to allow you entry into the building).

So... eventually, under this scenario, you will face arrest... simply for not having a "REAL-ID"... Pretty-slick, huh..?

RealID, like any other form of identification, can be forged. And the people most likely to be causing damage and destruction will be the ones most likely to have fake RealIDs that won't be spotted before it's too late.

RealID will not replace ANY of the other screening procedures in place, so there is no benefit or incentive for citizens who have it.

Now it seems thats not enough, and why not?
Because of outlines when it was produced "for tax id purposes only.Does anyone remember that.I notice that states have been using your SS number as you state id already and few people have even asked how or why.Its funny how Colon Powell mentioned to a post cold war country how the US tracts its own people through an id meant for taxing only (your SS #) and now they are pushing for another way as well.When will it be enough and why the sudden change? The SS number is not for tax purposes it is and was meant to enroll you into the Government WELFARE program. That is what Social Security is was and will always be. It was a pathetic attempt to enslave us at the start and it has become the downfall of our society. Why work when Uncle Sam will take care of you. Well, perhaps I object to getting a driver's license and having my personal information stored on a DMV database. The state law doesn't allow me to drive if I don't have a state issued driver's license. This is an inconvenience to all of those us reject the driver's license requirements. The Big Brother fascist state government is taking away my freedom. We should demand that our state legislatures get rid of the driver's license requirement. Those who would trade freedom for safety (to paraphrase) deserver neither.

technically, the Constitution doesn't give you the right to drive. Honestly, if you got rid of the driver's license requirement, I'm fairly certain accident numbers would soar, plus insurance costs would skyrocket. Only the rich would be able to pay for insurance, poor and even middle class would have to risk the huge fines if they get into accidents without insurance. You'd get more hit & runs due to that. Overall, its a terrible terrible idea.
