We need to fix this trash. First step is to impeach and imprison
every single person in the Bush administration, possibly every
single person in the White House. Next step is to repeal every
single law that has been passed in the last 7 years. Next step is
to close Gitmo. Next we need to get out of Iraq.

Cut the Bureau a Little Slack

To be fair to those guys, they can't use off-the-shelf software, because it would be too easy to hack. In fact, they have to find above-average programmers with security clearances, and that can't be easy.

In the broader sense though, you gotta hate 'em because even J. Edgar Hoover wasn't trying to get info on EVERYBODY. So on second though, screw it.

I'd like to cut them a little slack, piker62, but geez, considering
that these guys are supposed to be up-to-the-minute on
tracking wrongdoers (we hope), and with the money they get
from the govt. (us), you'd think they'd have access to the best
(most expensive) computers and/or the best (most highly paid)
programmers, instead of being DECADES behind in their
technology. Yikes...

Next we'll be hearing that they use messenger boys on bicycles
to deliver classified information to different departments...
