We don't need or want e-voting at all. People just kinda accept it as "moving forward" but even if there is a paper trail it can still be forged by the system.

testing is not rocket science - it's just proper engineering

I work in a relatively mature development environment. All this
nonsense about just starting testing, etc is hooey - you design the
test cases along with the requirements for functionality and ensure
the product meets specs BEFORE RELEASE. You can't test quality
back into a product. BTW, there are many service providers who
can design and perform test suites. So shame on the vendor for
the initial product release and shame on on the government. BOTH
ARE AT FAULT.
