Bill would criminalize fraudulently buying or selling phone records; police and spy agencies would be exempt.

Why just telephones?

Pretending to be someone else to obtain that persons personal information should not be legal. Why are they restricting it to telephone records? What if I pretend to be you at your bank? The court? Your credit card company?

Say I pretend to be a 14 year old girl to get someone's phone number?
The real question is why exempt law enforcement??
by FooKBush December 8, 2006 1:03 AM PST
If they don't have a warrant why should they be allowed to invade some ones privacy...Hmmmm Oh I see, just acting like they are doing something when really they are just shredding more of our bill of rights and constitution.(Common practice the last 6 or so years) If they pass this w/out making it illegal w/out a warrant they should bury all that vote for or sign it into law, no exceptions.

as always,

RIAA alert!
by i_am_still_wade December 8, 2006 5:36 AM PST
In California, the RIAA bribed, er lobbied, the representatives into not passing a anti-pretexting law. Are they going to repeat this here? I sure wish they would use all that money they make to give to artists instead of buying laws or figuring out more ways to screw us or killing musical innovation.
