Mike DeWine Wants to Destroy Your Liberty
by Sol999 July 8, 2006 12:26 AM PDT
This guy has authored or voted for every fascist enabling piece of legislation brought before the Senate. He is determined to take away every bit of privacy and liberty you have. The people of Ohio should be ashamed for sending this freedom hating, liberty destroying politician to Washington.

Let him know how you feel, especially if you're from Ohio.

What has happened under the guise of protecting us from the
terrorists.
Of course, Hitler, Stalin et al all had their own tactics also.
Not all that much different, just listen to the rhetoric!
All but 39% are ashamed of DeWine

"The people of Ohio should be ashamed for sending this freedom hating, liberty destroying politician to Washington."

All but 39% are ashamed of him. He normally doesn't listen so we will replace him in November.
We are Embarrassed
by JHochstuhl July 10, 2006 11:58 AM PDT
We are mortified that Dewine still holds his office. He's an embarrassment to Ohio and we are doing everything we can do to get rid of him and his cohorts who seem bent on the disassembly of the 1st, 4th, 14th, and 15th amendments.

But it is an uphill climb; Republicans are hard rooted here, seemly blind to the steady attack on the bill of rights. They can't be spoken to, or reasoned with without becoming defensive of their Grand Old Party and it's objectives. It's amazing, I have never in my 50 years seen so many intelligent and rational people in so much denial.

But we are trying, desperately, to uproot Dewine in November. This steady march toward the nullification of the bill of right has to stop before it's way too late.
Let him try

Stupid, stupid, stupid
by dcvchigago July 8, 2006 6:13 AM PDT
Any terrorist with half a brain is going to encrypt their communications as a matter of course and send them through blind drops to hide their destinations. So, that only leaves the rest of us for the federal government to spy on.

how spam could get you
by Jim_bob101 July 8, 2006 10:28 AM PDT
all it would take, is to have one computer set up by the fbi, sitting somewhere overseas with no connections back to fbi, and it could send you an e-mail that you never asked for, an e-mail filled with terror plots and words and what not, then you could easily have your rights waived and every last thing you do online monitored, its that easy, its that foolish, were in trouble

I doesn't have to be the FBI, anyone could do it
by www^ July 10, 2006 11:59 AM PDT
It could be anyone on any computer located anywhere. That's one good reason why wiretaps and survellance need to be run by a court of law.

It would be much more effective if real authentication was required. How about holding everyone responsible for his/her actions? Yea, I know the value of anonymity. There are two sides of the coin.

gateways could work in teams.. to exchange encryption keys and to route/scatter encrypted traffic out of contaminated nets.. anyone working to remotely cache data could incorporate such methods...

Without Independent Courts Assessment of Net-Tapping!
by gprovida July 8, 2006 1:53 PM PDT
Wiretapping or Nettapping are legitimate activities of Government
WHEN TEMPERED BY INDEPENDENT COURT ORDER ensuring
minimum level of suspicion validated versus general fishing. The
current Government claim that the Executive [under Global War on
Terrorism] under the National Security needs is exempt from
Congressional and Judicial Oversight and trumps the Bill of Rights!
Until this is resolved, it is wrong, dangerous, and ultimately
ineffective to pursue these laws.

Net Tapping Effective
by gprovida July 8, 2006 2:00 PM PDT
Certainly a discussion of Bill of Rights is vital, but in addition, I
doubt that the continuing "abusive" global fishing expeditions are
very effective. Assuming adversaries are dumb enough [and some
are] the introduction of encryption techniques will make this
enormous effort useless. Better to focus on real validated
instances [and certified by court] thereby ensuring resources
focused with maximum effect versus fishing expeditions the put
the Bill of Rights at risk. So do what is truly effective AND honors
the constitutional separation of powers and Bill of Rights.

The only thing missing now from the US governments ability to spy
on its citizens is mandatory body cavity searches.
