Perhaps it's a good thing...

Of course it would be better for Google to fight for Net neutrality the humanist "democratic" way, but they'd get nowhere. Without a big player lining the pockets of the country's decision makers and pushing Net neutrality, Congress (sadly) would have no incentive not to pass legislation otherwise. Verizon et. al. would simply buy as many legislators as they needed to pass the "tiered Internet" policy, and we'll go back to articles about how Big Business runs this country. Google has yet to really screw over the consumer, so I say we give them the benefit of the doubt in this case.

Isn't this really making a fuss about nothing?

Can you name one multi-billion dollar industry that does not have professional lobbyists?

With subpoenas flying about like confetti, and a republican government, sounds like a simple protect and survive to me.

Plus a cooked breakfast for conspiracy theorists. Gives Elvis a break, I suppose.
