Blogs, podcasts, forums - what salons were to the 1800s
by marileev March 27, 2006 10:59 AM PST
I always find it surprising that the non techies wish online discussions from Blogs, Forums, or podcasts actually need to be regulated. They are no different than the old-fashioned boy's cigar rooms or salons of the 1800's. They are a place on to congregate and also share view from vast parts of the US.

In Seattle, I can connect with someone in the Dakotas to talk about abortion rights or some one in San Francisco to see how tech developments are fostering or hindering land development.

They're just other ways to be engaged.

The "ordinary people" are the ones who vote and contribute to the Republican Party. Democrats are the ones who receive money from huge capitalists, such as George Soros and Google founders.

By the way, liberals have a "richer" (literally) presence on Internet because these guys pay the bill. See all about the liberal's money sources here:

All Restrictions on Free Speech Are Unconstitutional
by steven.randolph March 27, 2006 12:10 PM PST
No matter how many times you may try to dress up this story as "good news" for free speech, it is no such thing. If the courts and politicians think that restricting or regulating free speech, especially free political speech, in any manner is OK, they should try reading the Constitution. Or maybe they're just too incompetent or corrupted to care about what the Constitution says.
